• Windows 7 installation help: October 23, 2009 through December 11, 2009 Any student, faculty, or staff member who purchases a copy of Windows 7 from Software Distribution can stop by the Torgersen Bridge on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1-4pm for assistance with the installation. 
• Note: Windows 7 help will not be available during Thanksgiving week, but will resume on Monday, November 30th.

New Software Requirement for Incoming Undergraduates

In an effort to save you money over the course of your academic career, all incoming undergraduate students are required to purchase a Microsoft Campus Agreement Software Bundle. This requirement will ensure that all undergraduate students have access to the latest versions of Office and the operating system.

The bundle also provides you with upgrades for this software as long as you remain an undergraduate at Virginia Tech. Therefore, do not purchase Microsoft Office until you come to Orientation.  For more information see the requirement FAQ or contact Student Software Sales at studentsoftware@vt.edu or 540-231-3969.

In order to access the download server from off campus, you must use the Virtual Private Network (VPN). To become eligible to use VPN, you must subscribe to either the VT Wireless Service or Modem Pool. For more information, see Virtual Private Network Access.

Once you have subscribed to one of these services, refer to the following for off-campus download instructions:

  • Unopened software may be returned for a full refund within 30 days of the purchase date. The exception is Bundle software. No Refunds!

  • Defective products may be returned for an exact title exchange within 90 days of the purchase date. Original proof of purchase and Hokie Passport are required.
